Steve Forbes recently published a video on Youtube asking just that: Is Biden President in name only? Well, here we dissect his video, add some context and links, and let you decide.
Who really is running things in Washington if it isn’t Joe Biden?
In these turbulent times, questions abound about the true power dynamics within the White House. Does President Biden truly hold the reins of power, or is he merely a figurehead?
The bizarre disappearance of Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin begs the question: Is Joe Biden now a president in name only, delivering speeches before being whisked away to avoid gaffes [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]? It certainly seems that way.
The strange behavior of the outgoing Defense Chief underscores a troubling reality of the Biden administration: the president and his cabinet secretaries may be mere figureheads. The actual decisions, it appears, are made by a small cadre of staunch leftists, aided by bureaucracies steeped in modern socialist ideology.
Marxists once envisioned socialism as the government owning key businesses. Modern socialists, however, have recognized that extensive regulation can also control the economy. The auto industry is a prime example, forced to lose billions on electric vehicles few want. It's telling that our top military official, the Secretary of Defense, could effectively disappear for days without the President or others noticing. Equally telling is that for nearly two weeks, Biden never reached out to Lloyd Austin. This, amidst two ongoing wars [1] [2], an increasingly belligerent China, near-daily attacks on our overseas military personnel and facilities, and brazen assaults on shipping in critical international waters.
Meanwhile, Washington regulators relentlessly churn out regulations, putting nearly every convenience device under siege. Experts estimate that these regulations now inflict an incomprehensible cost of three trillion dollars on the economy.
Biden seems passively acquiescent to most far-left demands, resulting in policies like de facto open borders, which have ushered in millions of undocumented immigrants. Similarly, the gargantuan and costly green energy policy, mirroring the one that crippled Germany's once-vibrant economy, threatens decades of feeble US economic growth if not reversed. Moreover, political weaponization has reached unprecedented levels, with agencies like the Justice Department and IRS brazenly ignoring or circumventing unfavorable court rulings, evident in the unlawful student debt forgiveness and the refusal to vigorously revitalize a troubled military.
These alarming trends, unfolding amidst a world teetering on the brink of danger, coupled with a foreign policy of appeasement reminiscent of the pre-WWII era, raise a disturbing question: does the increasingly evident mental and physical decline of the President embolden the Democratic Party's hard left to act without his meaningful intervention?
The one time President Biden demonstrably took the reins was the disastrous Afghan withdrawal. We face a deep state, where unelected, unappointed bureaucracies wield power, readily frustrating and undermining policies they disapprove of. Their advantage? No pink slips. A new leader will take the helm in a year. A crucial step must be initiating lawsuits and actions that restore the President and their designated officials' authority to hire and fire most federal employees.
